The Atmos Junior is a tiny but mighty vape pen that’s the smaller version of the Atmos RX. it's best known as a concentrate vaporizer but does work with dry herbs as well. However, we really don’t like it's vapor quality and a few other things when it comes to dry flower (more on that later). But, if you’re seeking a super cheap portable vape pen for waxes and concentrates, this is a decent option.

Quick Answer:

The Atmos Junior is a good vaporizer for concentrates. The battery life is rather short but its cheap to buy, produces good vapor and its extremely small and portable.

Atmos Junior Discretion

The Atmos Junior stands at just 4” tall making it one of the most discreet vaporizer pens. They really can’t get much smaller than this right? The chambers basically the same size as the Atmos RX but the battery was made smaller to save on space.

For vaping on the low, I felt like the Junior did a great job. I was able to turn it on and start vaping quickly. It's easy to cup in your hand or toss in your pocket and you’ll barely even notice it's there.

When you’re vaping, you can pretty much do it anywhere without the unit drawing any attention. It looks just like an e-cigarette which most people are used to at this point. The units also extremely lightweight since the battery is so small and that’s usually the thing that weighs the most in portable vaporizers. Overall, it's a very discreet unit.

Atmos Junior Portability and Vaping Capabilities

The Junior works with both concentrates and dry herbs but it's best for concentrates. When Atmos made the Junior, they saved on space by making the battery smaller. With this smaller battery I got about 10 minutes of actual vaping time out of each charge before I had to plug it back in.

This might not be a big deal for you if you’re only taking your vaporizer on short trips while you’re running errands but it definitely won’t work for day trips or vaping with friends.

To counteract this obvious shortcoming, one thing Atmos did right with the Junior was to make the unit chargeable with a wall charger and any USB port. If you have a standard car charger (the one that fits into the cigarette lighter and your USB cable plugs into), you can plug the Junior into this while you’re in the car which buys you more time if you’re driving to your destination.

Vapor Quality

The vapor quality from the Atmos Junior was pretty good for concentrates but disappointing for dry herbs.

For dry herb, you need to insert the little glass “honeycomb” screen before loading your weed. The screen is super small and very easy to lose when emptying your used material after a session and if you do, you’ll have to order more.

On top of that, it's a very mediocre experience when using the screen. If you use it without the screen, it's more like an electronic pipe. Your weed is sitting directly on the hot coil so you’re getting smoke rather than vapor. It's not a big deal if you know that before you buy it but can be disappointing if you weren’t expecting it.

Concentrates are where the Atmos Junior shines though. While you can’t expect the flavor to compare with higher end vaporizers, the taste is still really good for a vape pen and especially for one that’s just $54.00. The top screws off easily and it's simple to load your material into the bowl - even if you’re in low light conditions and can't really see.

The smoke/vapor comes up pretty quick but I recommend you hold the button down for 2-3 seconds before you draw to allow the vapor to build up in the chamber. Then once you take a hit you’ll have a bigger cloud than you would have if you pressed it and immediately began vaping.

Overall I’m satisfied with the concentrate vaping experience from the Atmos Junior. While it's not the very best, it's a good buy at this price.

How to Use The Atmos Junior

Fortunately the Atmos Junior could not be easier to use. It features one button on the front which you press 5 times to turn the unit on. After that, you press the button and start vaping.

Just remember to fully charge your unit before using and you may also want to run it through a few burn off cycles to get rid of any manufacturing oils that might be present. After that, you can start enjoying your concentrates.

Build Quality

The build quality of the Junior is great. I never had any leaks, bending or breaking of the unit - even after carrying it in my pocket for the day. The smaller size of makes this possible since the Junior sits deep in your pocket and won’t bend when you sit down.

The single button on the front was made a little smaller which is sometimes frustrating to find when you’re on the beach at night but I’m being nitpicky here. The coil in the bottom heats up fast, starts vaping your material within one or two seconds and the design is so simple you could probably drop it a dozen times without any problems.

Overall the build quality is solid.

Conclusion

Would I buy the Atmos Junior? Yes. I would buy the Junior as a backup vaporizer specifically for concentrates and only for short trips or around the house.

At this price, most people can afford to have it as a backup. However I would not buy it as your primary vape pen. The battery life is too short to make it a good option and you’ll find yourself tethered to the charger most of the time - and you can’t use it while charging.

If you’re looking for a primary vaporizer, I would spring for something much nicer like the Mighty, Pax or even the G Pro. For concentrates, check out the Atmos RX or, if you have some money to spend, the Firefly 2 works for dry herb and concentrates. All of these are better options as your primary vaporizer.
